At CALLAWAY Plumbing and Drains Ltd we get the call for water leaks. This 4″ ductile iron water line is servicing a high rise apartment building and after many years being surrounded with rocks a hole was worn through the pipe to create this leak. Water mains are made of various materials and they should never be back filled with rocks or any other sharp or hard objects, always bed in sand and fill at least 1-2 feet on top with sand.
